The Key #1 Anna Kippling Series YA Paranormal Romance/Epic Fantasy eBook AD Duling
The Key begins in our world following 17-year-old Anna Kippling one week after the death of her grandmother. As she and her mother pack away her grandmother's belongings, Anna finds a peculiar key and, after searching the whole house, discovers that it opens a door to a world called Tatania. Anna soon learns that her arrival was expected in Tatania and that the Chancellor wants her dead.I found Anna to be a believable character. She is slightly unsure of herself and has a bit of an attitude, but is smart and sassy. Thrust in an uncertain situation with a lot on her shoulders, she acts how I would expect her to. She's not perfect, yet still a strong character, and I found that refreshing. I would have liked the pace to be a tad slower when she arrives in Tatania, if only to have more time to watch her relationships develop more with the other characters.
There are a few typographical errors and a couple of homophone mix-ups (vial instead of vile, for example), but nothing major.
The Key drew me in immediately and kept me there until the end with a good storyline and characters I care about.

The Key #1 Anna Kippling Series YA Paranormal Romance/Epic Fantasy eBook AD Duling Reviews
This is a great beginning to an epic adventure! My only reservation is the poor editing. I spent a lot of time rereading passages to figure out what the author meant to say!
The Key was a good read..I am ready to read # 2 of the Anna Kippling Series. I always like a continuing story. I'm never ready to say goodbye to the people in the book.
Anna Kippling's Young Adult fantasy was a fasinating adventure into the world of science fiction. Young people who love a good and well-written story will love this tale, the key fit the lock and opened a world filled of twist and turns.
I loved this book the story moved fast and pulled you it.I thought the book was great and enjoyed reading it and will read the next one soon.I liked the way the two worlds were similar but different at the same time it maid the story more believable
First, I must say I was incredibly excited to read this book...until I actually sat down to do so. I have enormous respect for Indie Authors, as I am one myself. I recently pulled my book from to do some serious editing. I think the author of this book ought to do the same. There are many instances where the author uses words improperly and there are other sentences that simply don't flow or make sense. For example, within the first few pages, I found this (mind, this was not the first instance I found-just the one that stuck out immediately)
"Going through these items were done in a thorough manner. Handled with delicate care, because they meant so much to their handlers."
The first sentence isn't worded properly. The second sentence is a FRAGMENT. It is an INCOMPLETE sentence.
I read a lot. I will admit I have seen worse as far as syntax, grammar and conventions go, but this has fallen into my category of "too much confusion to finish." When a book doesn't flow while I read it-if I have to edit in my head to make sense of what was written, I cannot finish. As a school teacher, I can honestly say I would never have this book in my classroom to be read. I would probably use it as an example of what NOT to do. I sincerely hope the author edits and republished this manuscript so I can enjoy the story.
Best Regards.
This has the potential to be an incredible book. However, having said that, the editing is atrocious. I kept getting jolted from the story by misspellings and incorrect word usage. If the author would proof-read as well as using spell check, this would be an absolutely engaging read. The story line and characters were well written; with elements that were new and refreshing, and I did continue to read it to the end, even with the bad editing.
This YA story is well-written, has a gripping plot and more than enough twists and turns of events to keep even the most casual of readers coming back for more. Being the first in a series, I think AD Duling has great potential as a novelist and I am sure she will develop her craft as she progresses and publishes more in the future.
I liked the characters and the setting of the scenes, fictitious as they are. I don't normally read works in this genre, but I am glad I did. It won't be the last either.
